Rosemary Essential Oil has been used to promote hair growth and is said have benefits such as: anti-inflammatory properties, anti-bacterial, promote nerve growth, and improve circulation. As a result, of improved circulation to the scalp, Rosemary Essential Oil could prevent hair follicles from being starved of blood supply, dying off, and leading to hair loss.
Did you know research has shown that Rosemary has the ability to inhibit DHT (Dihydrotestosterone)? DHT is an androgen produced as a byproduct of testosterone, responsible for a variety of functions, and has a connection to hair loss. DHT is said to attack the hair follicles and lead to hair loss.
Simple ways to use Rosemary Essential Oil for Hair Care:
1: Mix it directly in your shampoo and conditioners, add about 5 drops per ounce. Another way is to add 2 to 3 drops to any leave in product, just prior to application.
2: Massage Rosemary Essential Oil directly to the scalp. Mix 5 drops of Rosemary EO with a carrier oil like organic coconut oil, Moroccan argan oil, or pumpkin seed oil (also shown to halt DHT effects). This can be rinsed off or used as a leave in treatment.
3: Make a DIY Hot oil treatment. Again, choose a prefer carrier oil and mix 5 drops of Rosemary EO. Heat the oil mixture and apply to hair. Leave in for about 20 to 30 minutes to rinsing.
Fun fact: Rosemary belongs to the mint family, which also includes basil, lavender, and sage.
